SIH Workcare | Biometric Screening

Biometric health screening involves comprehensive testing to assess for indicators of medical conditions. This series of tests includes the biometric measurements of height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, blood cholesterol and blood sugar. A biometrics test is commonly used as part of pre-employment health screening to identify health concerns such as high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

Prior to biometric testing, an employee will complete a health risk assessment to establish any pre-existing conditions or illnesses. Employers may choose to have biometric screenings included in pre-employment, annual testing, or as part of companywide health challenges. By regularly monitoring and addressing health concerns in the workplace, employers may reduce absenteeism and lower medical benefit costs.

Preparing for Biometric Screenings

Before the biometric screening, fasting is required for 9-12 hours. You should not eat or drink anything except water, black coffee, or tea (no cream and sugar) during this time. Do not take any medications, including vitamins and your regular prescriptions, during this fasting period.
